Among the several Boomer-oriented blogs I follow is LifeTwo, the mid-life resource. LifeTwo covers a range of issues of concern to mid-life individuals, not the least of which is – yes – mid-life crisis.
So, imagine my surprise in discovering recent posts that featured Penelope Trunk, a career columnist at the Boston Globe and Yahoo Finance, and author of Brazen Careerist: The New Rules for Success. Writing primarily for Gen X and Gen Y, her views have been described as “counterintuitive but effective career advice for a new generation of workers…”
Some see her as controversial. I see her as refreshing!
Overall, I find Penelope has pragmatic, as well as provocative, ideas that ought to be considered by anyone who needs to actively manage their career … and who doesn’t? This is not to say that I agree with everything she says, but I really believe that if you want to own your career, own your life, and find happiness, it’s worth investing some time in seeing what you can learn from her.
You can read the LifeTwo interview, and you can read an interview with Guy Kawaski. You may also want to visit Penelope Trunk’s Brazen Careerist Blog: Advice at the intersection of work and life.
Read Penelope’s ideas? What are your thoughts?

I'm 49 and I want to quit. No more work. I am working on how exactly to do this.

Hi Rhea!
Thanks for your comment!
Well, I hope that works out for you. Of course, the other thing to consider is what will make you happy in the next phase of your life. Fortunately, from time to time, you can even find that kind of advice from Penelope. Check out this post:

By the way, if you get the quitting thing down, I hope you’ll share your secrets :)
