It seems lots of people have heard about the importance of personal branding for career and business success. Yet, despite how often the term pops up in print, online, or in conversations, it also seems that some people don’t really get it.
Just this week, Jim, a Candidate at a Career Center where I conduct some workshops and also do some career coaching, told me he went to a personal branding presentation. When I asked how he liked it, he told me the presenter seemed to know his stuff – but about branding a business. Jim told me, that essentially the presenter said you need take branding lessons from great companies and apply them to yourself. Jim then observed that he thinks establishing a personal brand is different. Smart guy. It is different.
So, do you get personal branding?
If you aren’t sure you really understand personal branding or how to make it work for you (and even if you do), then mark your calendar for November 8, and plan to attend one or more teleseminars, at A Brand You World, 2007 Global Telesummit. The teleseminars are free! There is no registration fee; so, for just the price of your phone calls you can choose from 24 sessions that will run over a 12 hour period. Want to hear all 24 sessions? No problem. Each session will be recorded and posted at the event website, along with articles and useful links to help extend your learning, long after the live event!
As one of the event organizers, I can promise you that it will be worth your time. Speakers for the event are leaders in their fields – and they have all generously made a gift of their time to participate. In fact, everyone connected with this event – including the sponsors – has generously donated their time or services.
So, who benefits? You do! And if you want to show your appreciation for what you learn, then you can give back. How? You can make a loan or donation to our social cause partner Kiva, a microfinance organization that facilitates interest-free loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world, empowering them to earn their way out of poverty.
Our press release says this is “The Biggest Thing to Happen in Personal Branding in 10 Years.”
I would add it’s the most unprecedented thing as well.
Don’t wait! Go to the site now and register. It’s free!

Right on Walter!
I just attended a career fair and the students got it! When I told them they needed to stand out from the crowd when looking for a career. Interestingly enough, many had parents who were business owners.
Cool, eh?
"See" you at the gig. - W.

Hey Wendy! Hey Jason!
Wendy, it really doesn’t surprise me that students get it, now if only more of those business-owner parents jump on board! And yes, Jason, I totally agree: This is going to be an awesome event!
Say, I heard you guys will be having a conversation or two! :-) I’ll have to call in! :-)
